As you may have sensed from my past few newsletters, I’m being going innnnnnnn on my feelings these days.
I’m still cooking a ton, but what has also been firing me the f*ck up is all of the juicy convos I’ve been having with my BFF, Jesse, over the past few months.
It feels like we have been on this journey together of major individual and collective life moments. And let me tell you, I *highly* rec getting a best friend who is also a licensed therapist to help you put words to your feelings and navigate your shit with you!
One day we’ll write a Freaky Friday spin-off where two best friends - an unmarried 30 something year-old living in the big city and her married, new mom counterpart, switch places for a day… But for now, a podcast will have to do!
Maybe we’re just obsessed with each other and delusional, but we really believe the ideas that are flowing between us are meant to be shared. We’ve been craving a medium that speaks to us – two mixt women who are navigating some real life shit, while remaining steadfastly determined to celebrate sisterhood, self-growth and full-frontal (as in nudity and unrestrained) joy.
So what happens when you have a lot to share + you give absolutely no f*cks anymore? You make a podcast!!!
ENTER - Plus One.
This is a snapshot into this time of our lives - as we navigate being in our 30s, dating, motherhood, friendship, break ups, break downs, the patriarchy, family dynamics, distance, career confusions, identity questions, and so many mixed feelings (nbd).
Expect to cry. Expect to laugh. Expect to feel like you’re at an adult slumber party with your best friends.
On this week’s episode:
We discuss our origin story. What are we saying helloooo to? What are we saying boy bye to? We sing a manic rendition of the Georgetown Day School “fight” song. Jesse’s on her way to Costa Rica for a TBD amount of time. Tessa’s going on dates. Jesse says “YES” approximately 9000 times. Tessa says “we’ll come back to this” repeatedly, and then we never come back to the thing. Both are obsessed with each other and desperately trying to manage their separation anxiety. Quick Note: The audio is a little funky on this one (oops) but we promise we sound better in future episodes.
I’ll still plan to use this space to bust out my fav recipes, but also stay tuned for weekly podcast episode drops!
…and trust me…. it’s going to get juicy.
love you, mean it
xo
